This is the underpass where the cars enter the staging area just before they race.We took a lot of photos from the roof of this building as you'll see.Alex is getting a birds eye view of all the happenings. We are just above the Christmas tree and we can see the entire grounds from here.
Alex got this shot just before these two cars entered the staging lanes. No smoke yet as there are cars being started in front of them. This guy was really smoking them for about 100 feet or so. Sometimes it is necessary, sometimes it's showboating. This car was really set up nicely and had a superb paint job. As you can see, he had something UNDER the hood too!
Alex and I walked the grounds again to see if we missed anything. We didn't. So we decided to head back to the motel to rest. The events of the day are over but we will return here tomorrow morning at 8:00am for the LONGHAULER Awards Ceremony.Working our way out of the lot to the highway that takes us to the motel takes a little time since its so crowded.
It's sunrise and Alex is already checking our cars out and installing our coil wires again. We have alarms but we remove the coil wires as an added precaution.Alex got a great shot of the sunrise over the Tennessee mountains behind the trees at the rear of the parking lot. Beautiful!Once again we enter the grounds for the LONGHAULERS CEREMONY. It's not as crowded now since there are only about 2500 that made the entire tour. We all receive plaques and certificates and other assorted gifts.
