Since this is the "Start" of the run, everyone has to register under his or her last name so Alex and I were in separate lines but we were early and we received a LOW number and then joined in with the others at the first stop car gathering . After signing in each participant is assigned a number and is given a card with all six of the destinations preprinted with spaces for the punch In and Out at each stop to verify you DID make the tour.
We were met by two other Maverick enthusiasts Steve and David both residents of Madison, Wisconsin after we had finished registering and we introduced ourselves and discussed all our vehicles. Afterwards, Alex and I discovered a really nice 72 Maverick on steroids that was traveling with the tour as a vendor car. This car would take an entire newsletter to describe. Its beautifully done, powerful engine, with trick suspension, and paint.
Check out the "shaker hood" treatment on Johns '72 Maverick. We think he did a really neat job. That's John entering his car in the center photo. We were fortunate to get such a great parking place at the first stop as you can see there are hundreds of cars that are jammed in all around us. We checked out most of them but not all. Its quite a hike to walk the entire field of vehicles so we just visited some at this stop.
